*Notes on the £10 supplement for payment in currencies other than British Pounds Sterling.

If you are paying by Credit Card, Charge Card, International Money Order in sterling, personal cheque drawn on a sterling account, there is no currency surcharge.

For those of you who have not used your credit cards for foreign purchases, the process goes something like this:

  1. We submit a slip for the amount in sterling
  2. The UK branch of the credit card company bills your local branch at the exchange rate prevailing on the day of the transaction, plus any commission they may apply.
  3. Your local branch enters the transaction to your account in your local currency.
  4. In practice the net exchange rate applied is no worse than, and sometimes better than the tourist rate you would get if you changed the currency yourselves.

Those of you who find it impossible to use credit cards or to obtain sterling money orders, and who insist on paying in money orders, or traveller's cheques drawn in currencies other than sterling, should add £10 to the total catalogue prices, plus an appropriate amount for postage, then convert the sterling amount to your currency. If we think that you have sent insufficient funds, you will be notified.
